WHAT HAPPENED?
Boehly has recently taken in a trip to Saudi Arabia where he took time out to meet with Emenalo, according to the . The meeting comes amid speculation Chelsea must sanction £100 million ($128m) worth of player sales this summer to comply with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules. THE BIGGER PICTURE
The Blues have already announced losses of £90.1m ($115m) in the 12-month period up to June 30, 2023 after spending heavily since Boehly arrived at the club. A summer clearout therefore looks increasingly likely in a bid to avoid sanctions for failing to comply with Financial Fair Play rules and to trim a bloated squad. Conor Gallagher has been linked with an exit, as he could bring a healthy profit as an academy graduate, while loanees such as Romelu Lukaku, Lewis Hall, Ian Maatsen, Armando Broja, and Trevoh Chalobah may all move on.
